Finished Top Down Sweater

So after months of being delinquent again, I decided to log into blogger and consider possibly maybe catching up with another post..and see drafts sitting there! ????  I apparently logged in months ago, wrote a couple of posts, saved them and then must have immediately forgotten about them. Yeesh!

So here is my first one.  Another lovely FO!

I think I bought this particular pattern by Per Amore Designs a few years back.  I had good intentions on doing it right away, but as I do with knitting, there are soooo many projects that I want to do that I get completely sidetracked.  I bookmark so many and get overwhelmed with all the choices!

Finally last year when wanting a super easy knit I could do in the car on the way up North, I remembered this top down pattern.  And as I'm trying to work through my stash, I grabbed some inexpensive acrylic I had.  It was super soft and a stunning colour.

Unfortunately though (insert curse here) so many things I make come out too big!!  I even started this, pulled it out and started it over again in a smaller size and it still came out too freaking big!  Damn!

So I couldn't really bring myself to pull it all out again and start over, so I packed it up and mailed it to my mum. *smile*  She loved it of course (as she does the several others I've given her over the years!)

Doesn't it look great!!??  I think the colour is just so flattering and she's almost colour coordinated with the azaleas in the background!  Never mind that it was super hot and she complained about having to try it on in 80 degree weather!

(I must remember to tell her the date on her camera is completely off!)

Another Finished Object

So I recently finished another knitting project.  With hubby working overseas for several months it gave me a chance to catch up on all my knitting!  The latest one is the little lacy top in merino/cashmere.  Would you believe I started this over a year ago!  I originally started this when we were living back in Essex and was so excited at first..and then I made the mistake of putting it aside.  Oh how you lose interest fast!  Of course I started other projects, got myself completely sidetracked and finally I thought enough is enough..no more new projects until I get this thing out of the way!

Didn't it turn out lovely?  I am really pleased with how it turned out and am so glad I finally got around to finishing it.  That said, I wore it once and the neck stretched out quite a bit..perhaps I bound it off too loosely.  So I need to figure out someway to fix that without unbinding it and casting off again, but there should be an easy way to do it.

I'm still super pleased with the result and definitely think I'll make this again soon.  I have some lovely silky bamboo yarn that I think would make the lace pattern drape beautifully!

Snuggly all in one

Boy has it been a long time since my last post!  I really enjoyed posting about all the food I'd been cooking, but with my weight creeping up and with getting married in less than three months, I decided it was time to majorly stick to my diet!!  I've been doing pretty good the past couple of weeks (I received my dress and reality hit!) and one great thing I've found is a great distraction from eating is picking up knitting again.  Early this year I'd started making a baby sleeper outfit for my future sister-in-law who was due in April.  I eagerly started, lost interest quickly and then it felt like a chore when I did pick it up once a month or so.  Meanwhile, the baby was born, she is beautiful and I wasn't any closer to finishing the darn thing!  I'd always enjoyed knitting before..what was the matter with me?  Why wasn't I enjoying it?  New environment?  Missing my bestest knitting buddy?  (I miss you D)  So finally I said to myself..enough is enough!  I picked it up again, got on a role, finished it off in just a few days and voila!  It is super cute and adorable!!

Luckily I thought ahead though and made the 6 - 12 month size, so when I mail it off next week it should fit her well, or at least it will in a couple of months and keep her warm on a chilly English evening.

I really hope she likes it and I can't wait to see a photo of her in it!

Another leaf Tshirt

I've finally finished my latest leaf T shirt!!!

I have to say, I really do enjoy knitting when I finish a project and I LOVE the finished object!!!  Isn't the colour beautiful??!!

I'd made this particular pattern once before and really liked the results, so when I was in England in May and desperately wanting to give a task to my idle hands, I logged into Ravelry and downloaded this awesome (and easy) pattern, found some great bamboo yarn at a local shop and away I went!  It was amazing how much I managed to complete in the 3 hour drive up to Lincoln..and returning a few days later!  If you're a member of Ravelry, you can find the pattern here.  The yarn I used is super soft and I will definitely be looking for this brand again.  It is Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo and is 80% bamboo and 20% wool.  It's a very nice blend and feels very silky.

Cowl neck sweater

Well, I haven't been very good at this blogging thing so far!  I was so excited when I first started and then discovered I lead a pretty quite life and had nothing to write about! LOL!  One past time I do enjoy though is my knitting.  Sometimes you'll see me at work knitting with Deniz at lunch time, or otherwise I enjoy knitting while watching tv.  I've finished some very nice objects for myself and others over the years and my latest project is the Lace Cowl Neck Pullover by Amanda Reed of Delicious Stitches.  I love it and have worn it to the office twice now have received so many wonderful comments!!

Other than it being a horrible hair day, I felt fabulous in my new top!!  Thanks Amanda for a great design! :-)
